About MCTRA

Montgomery County Trail Ride Association was organized in 1965 and has celebrated over 50 years of success with many trail ride groups being a part of the association, including the Dugan's Raiders, Stampede Riders, Natural Outlaws and King's Kowboys.

It began when Paul "Dugan" Puckett along With Mary Steakley, R.J. Gray, Granny Baker, Lou Puckett, Sue Moore, Jerry Thurston, Donald Winford, Judge Bailey, Sam Hunt and over 75 more broke off from the Sam Houston Trail Ride Association and started the Montgomery County Trail Ride Association.

That same year they rode to Houston in three days stopping at the Cow Palace, Ford Harris Ranch and Ash Lake with about six wagons.

Though they don't participate in the Houston Rodeo Trail Ride into downtown anymore, they do host a yearly, week long Main Ride the same week starting in Madisonville, Texas, ending in Navasota, Texas. In 2017, the ride had 26 wagons and over 150 trail riders participating from Texas and Lousiana.
